Sensation, Knowledge Musona, has expressed his delight at winning the Rookie of the Month Award for December and January.

“Smiling Assassin” as Musona is affectionately known, shared the award with Club’s development product, Siyanda Xulu, currently doing duty for Mamelodi Sundowns. They are now both in line to win the Rookie of the Year Award for the 2009/2010 season, to be announced later this year.

“I want to thank the fans who voted for me,” said the soft-spoken striker, speaking to kaizerchiefs.com on Thursday morning.

“I always want to give my best for the team every time I pull on the black and gold jersey. I always put the team first in all that I do, but as a player it is something special when fans vote for you in acknowledging the contribution you make in the team. The award will serve as a motivation for me to work harder,” said Musona.

He also took time to congratulate joint winner, Siyanda Xulu. “I know him very well from my time when I trialed with Mamelodi Sundowns. I trained with the Under-19 team and he was the captain. He is a talented player and I hope to come face to face with him during cups before the end of the season. It would be nice to see who comes tops,” he said with a smile.

The young striker also told kaizerchiefs.com that he has put the result against Swallows behind him and is now focusing on the game against Jomo Cosmos.

“I always want to score and I was disappointed when my shot came off the woodwork. We gave our all in that game, but then we could not win. Now we just have to channel our energy on the upcoming game against Jomo Cosmos,” he added.
