Coach Fernando Da Cruz takes charge of his second official game as head coach of Kaizer Chiefs in this evening’s MTN8 quarterfinal clash against Lamontville Golden Arrows at FNB Stadium, on the occasion of National Women’s Day.

The winner-takes-all competition, which carries a R10-million prize for the ultimate champions, has been won by Chiefs in its various formats a record 15 times. Amakhosi will now begin their quest for a historic 16^th title.

Chiefs are boosted by the presence of assistant coach Mahmoud Abbas on the bench and the availability of new midfielder Adolf Mtasingwa, who has received his clearance papers.

Following last weekend’s 3-1 victory over Kruger United in Mbombela, coach Da Cruz has made three changes to his starting line-up. Mtasingwa replaces Siphelele Ndlovu, while Nkosingiphile Ngcobo comes in for Ethan Chislett. Up front, last weekend’s brace scorer Wandile Duba starts ahead of fellow goal scorer, Flavio Da Silva.

On the bench, Chiefs welcome Mduduzi Shabalala back after a long lay-off, while new winger, Langelihle Phili also joins the list of substitutes.

It’s a 4-3-3 formation for Amakhosi.

Brandon Petersen continues as goalkeeper and captain.

The back four remains unchanged, with Reeve Frosler on the left, Zitha Kwinika and Inacio Miguel in central defence, and Thabiso Monyane on the right.

In midfield, Lebohang Maboe anchors the trio once again, supported by Mtasingwa and Ngcobo ahead of him. On the wings, Luke Baartman operates on the left and Mfundo Vilakazi on the right, with Duba leading the attack.

Match officials are referee Luxolo Badi, assisted by Elphas Sithole and Thabo Twayise. The fourth official is Kgara Mokoena.

The exhilarating MTN8 quarterfinal encounter between the Glamour Boys and Abafana Besthende kicks off at 18:00 at FNB Stadium.
