The 2011 Vodacom Challenge is proving to be the most innovative yet in the 13 year history of the annual pre-season show piece event, with Vodacom recently launching the Ultimate Vodacom Challenge Experience Competition with fans able to win a day with the Amakhosi ahead of their games against English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur in Polokwane on July 15 and Orlando Pirates in Port Elizabeth on July 18.



Come’s another innovation from the tournament organizers as they introduce the Vodacom Challenge Volunteer Programme, which gives fans the opportunity to experience firsthand the logistics behind putting together an event like the Vodacom Challenge.



By visiting www.vodacomchallenge.com volunteers can sign up to the volunteer programme and help out at the four game days during the tournament from 15-22 July across four venues namely the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, Mmobela Stadium in Nelspruit, Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth and Coca Cola Park in Johannesburg.



Volunteer Application Process:



Applications for the programme opened on Monday 13th June.



Persons interested in applying for the programme can download the application form at www.vodacomchallenge.com and fax the completed form to Peter McIntosh at fax no: 086 617 4673. Applicants can also phone either Samantha Coppard, 082 880 4949 or Peter McIntosh, 082 880 9551 to apply for the programme.



Volunteers that are selected for the event will be notified via sms and e mail (if applicable) by Wednesday 29th June.



Job Categories and Descriptions



The list below illustrates the types of job categories and descriptions likely to be used in the Event:



Media:


Volunteers will assist the media management team in researching and providing information and otherwise assisting the world’s media covering the event



Information Kiosks:


These volunteers will assist with the running of the information kiosks. They will distribute information the Venue on match days.



VIP Assistants & Welcome party:


These will assist the PR Director with all duties regarding VIP needs.



Ushers;


These volunteers will assist with directing spectators to their seats in the stadiums. They will also assist with queries from spectators.



Accreditation


These volunteers will assist with the accreditation process prior to and during the event, operating computers, issuing accreditation passes etc.



Volunteer administration & support assistants:


These volunteers will assist will ant administration and logistics centered around the programme and the event
