Kaizer Chiefs skipper, Jimmy Tau has attributed the Tuesday night victory to superior mental strength of his teammates to that of their opponents, Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Phefeni Glamour Boys beat Mamelodi Sundowns 4-3 on penalties and walked away with a trophy and an 8 million rand cheque.

Mamelodi Sundowns created more chances on the night and could have won the game inside 90 minutes but wasted their chances. Amakhosi did come back strongly during the second half of extra time and should have wrapped up the game before penalties.

“We are obviously delighted with our victory” said the delighted Jimmy Tau.

“It was always going to take a lot from us to win the cup final. I believe that our mental strength won us the game.

They kept on coming but we never gave in.….. We did make a couple of mistakes at the back but never panicked” he said.
