Platinum Stars Vs Kaizer Chiefs

21st October 2007

Olympia Park Stadium, Rustenburg

Premier Soccer League

Kick Off: 15h30

Temperature: 25° C

Amakhosi Coach Muhsin Ertugral will be hoping for a galactic performance from his charges when they travel to Rustenburg for Sunday afternoons PSL match against Platinum Stars.

With The Amakhosi having a number of injuries, it has meant that the coach has had to rope in some new recruits, and has been forced to ring the changes from his starting eleven that was successful in defeating Moroka Swallows in a Telkom Cup Last 16 game. In all, the Chiefs coach has made four changes to his starting eleven and two more to his game day squad, as Mabhudi Khenyeza who missed the Swallows game through suspension and Sandile Zuke return to start on Sunday from the bench.

McCarthy at the back

Amongst the Chiefs coach's changes for Sunday’s game, Fabian McCarthy who has been out of competitive action for more than six months, get his first start for the 2007 – 2008 season.

McCarthy takes the place of the injured Jimmy Tau and will be played at right back; while Cyril Nzama gets his place back in the starting line up. Nzama who will captain Chiefs fills in for another injured player in the form of Jonathan Quartey. An injury to Gerald Sibeko has opened up the way for David Obua who has made a number of appearances as a substitute for Chiefs in the past couple of games, to start for his first game this season.

Khune rested

Ertugral has opted to rest Itumeleng Khune. The 20-year-old goalkeeper returned to the country late on Monday after travelling to Ghana with the South African Olympic team, where he participated in an Olympic qualifying game against the Ghana U-23’s.

Emille Baron who has played in just one game which was on the opening day of the season against Thanda Royal Zulu F.C., returns from a thigh injury to take up his place between the sticks. Thuso Phala has been moved up to the substitutes bench and will be itching to get some time out, as he would desperately like to rob his former team of three points.
