Kaizer Chiefs skilful midfielder, David “DVD” Mathebula has told kaizerchiefs.com that he has a long way to go before he can become a ‘complete player’. David played a game of his life against Durban based side, Amazulu last Saturday and was unequivocally voted as Man of the Match.

However the soft speaking midfielder poured water on suggestions that that he is on top of his game, “There is a lot of work I need to do...I do want to credit my performance though against Amazulu to the encouragement I have been receiving from the coach and my teammates. The coach always encourages me to take players on.

It is something that I am aware I am not doing enough but I think the coach saw that I have a potential to do exactly that so on Saturday I just decided to take them on,” he said.

Mathebula says what also made a difference on the day was that his teammates were available to pounce on the chances he had created, “It is important that I create chances for the benefit of the team so on Saturday my teammates availed themselves every time I had the ball. The running of the ball was good as well,” he said giving credit to his teammates.

“I have also been working hard in developing all aspects of my game. I know that as a midfielder I need to score more goals and I am currently working on my shooting technique. Elsa (Storm) has also been supportive in keeping us in shape,” he added saying that the next two games against Supersport and Orlando Pirates will be a big test for the team.
