Amakhosi attacker Dominic Mateba has became a hit with a goal celebration he performed after finding the net against Nathi Lions during Kaizer Chiefs 3-2 Nedbank Cup round of 32 victory on Sunday, despite the fact that the goal was eventually ruled out as the referees assistant ruled that he had been in an offside position.

It has not stopped the 22 year old from preparing more dance routines in anticipation of scoring his first official goal for the club, Mateba explained of his celebration “it started out as a joke myself and a couple of the guys came up with a number of funny celebrations during training and we I said when I do score I will break out one of them.”

Mateba is now hoping that he will get to show case another of his masterful dance moves in the near future, “the celebration during the Lions came will not be repeated it has been seen again. We have a few more moves in the bag and I am confident that some time in the near future I will be able to entertain the fans with it.”

To more serious matters Mateba said that he was happy to have scored against Lions even though his goal was ruled out as it has given his morale a lift, “I have been told by the coaching staff to show composure in the box and I am glad that was able to do that against Lions.

I took my time and finished off the move when the ball came to me, I did not think that I was off side and getting past the keeper was the aim.

Being able to play in a game where the pressure in on the team and help in the win does a lot to lift you.”

Overall Mateba was pleased with his input in the game and his hoping to build on it, “I thought that my touches in the game were good as well as getting into good positions it was as we practiced in training.

I have watched the game and will watch it out again and look at my performance and I will use the training sessions to improve my game, also to improve the way I fit into the overall team plan. For now I will do all I can to do give my best during practice and when an opportunity falls my way again I would like to be in a position to make it count.”
