Dominic Mateba has told kaizerchiefs.com that he can’t wait to take his place on the field following the contractual dispute with Orlando Pirates that led to him only being registered with the league late last month.

“I have been training with the team for almost 8 months now…I can’t wait to get my opportunity and contribute to the success of the team,” he told kaizerchiefs.com after the training session on Tuesday afternoon.

“I was looking forward to play when the season started but then things did not go my way. I am glad this has finally passed and now I can focus on my career. I want to thank my teammates, the Technical Staff, Mr. Bobby Motaung including the Executive Chairman, Mr. Kaizer Motaung for showing faith in me. They never doubted me…I am forever grateful,” said the visibly emotional Mateba.

The former Sicilians striker is aware that the competition for places is tough in the team, “You can see yourself the quality in the team. I know it is going to be tough for me to break in the team but the Coach told us at the beginning of the season that everyone is going to get his chance to show his worth to the Club. I am working hard and I know that my chance will come and when it comes I will grab it with both hands,” added Mateba.
