Kaizer Chiefs junior side was unlucky to be bundled out by traditional rivals Orlando Pirates in the semifinal of the Annual Manchester United Under-15 Premier Cup held at Safa Grounds in Pimville in Soweto.

By losing on penalties to players who looked older and out of the category, Ntsie Maphike’s boys were a marvel to watch and deserved to be applauded for giving their opponents a run for their money.

With age cheating being the main issue that propelled Ajax Cape Town to walk out of the tournament after claiming that Wits University and Pirates players were older, the teams and sponsors must really do something about this issue, otherwise the primary objective of development will be lost.

“This is terrible. We might have lost but Pirates players were overage. We cannot allow this to happen if we are to develop our players for the future. I was not surprised to see Ajax pulling out because nobody is doing anything about this thing,” said Chiefs development coach Terror Sephoa.

Pirates, who were the reigning champions, beat SuperSport United in the finals to represent South Africa in England at the end of the month while Chiefs were beaten on penalties by African Sports for the third place.
