Mafani apology

Kaizer Chiefs PRO Putco Mafani has apologised on Tuesday for getting involved with the Jabu-Tshegofatso saga in his official capacity as club spokesperson.

Dear Supporters and Mokopi family,

I hereby apologise to the Mokopi family, authorities and Kaizer Chiefs family for statements I made on Radio Metro with regard to the whole saga about Tshegofatso Mokopi's age and getting involved with the questionings with the host of the show Robert Marawa.

This I said, I was doing in my official capacity as the PRO ya maKhosi, an oversight, which should not have happened. I want to reiterate the position I took because the club was not involved and briefed about the calls I had received from Tshegofatso’s ex-boyfriend and herself on Friday afternoon.

The validity of these statements remains to be seen and Kaizer Chiefs was not involved officially into these ‘findings’. I know some of our supporters are not pleased with the manner in which I handled myself and I know what repercussions come with it, including the fact that the position of the club with regard to Jabu conduct was compromised because of this.

Once more, words fail me. I am sorry. I am so embarrassed and I deserve the Bhari of the week award.

Yours truly,

PUTCO MAFANI

Public Relations Manager
