A sold out Loftus Stadium will bear witness to what is sure to be a hum dinger of the game as Kaizer Chiefs go out to play for South African Soccer pride, as a victory is not beyond The Amakhosi in the capital city.

Ernst Middendorp has once again rung the changes in all he has made seven alterations to his team from the one that defeated Orlando Pirates in Rustenburg on Tuesday evening. After seeing the success of playing with two out and out strikers up front Ernst Middendorp has once again stuck to his guns and has given Kaizer Motaung Junior a starting berth and a slot along side Shaun Bartlett in attack.

After impressing on Tuesday night when coming on a second half substitute against the Buccaneers, Motaung who looked on song testing Pirates keeper Francis Chansa with a shot from distance and was than unfortunate not to have scored when he headed against the post from close range.

He has done enough to get the nod from Ernst to start and takes the place of David Radebe. Making his return to the team is captain Cyril Nzama who was deputized by Fabian McCarthy on Thursday night, after putting in a fluent performance against Pirates McCarthy too keeps his place at the centre of defence.

Manchester United coach Sir Alex Ferguson who has said that he was impressed by the way Chiefs played against Pirates on Thursday night and was particularly impressed with Chiefs combination play has himself made changes to his team.

The United coach has made three Changes to his starting eleven, from the one that defeated The Amakhosi by a solitary goal in Cape Town, out goes go goalkeeper Ben Foster his place has been taken by Luke Steele, a further change sees Jonathan Evans slot into defence in the place of John O’ Shea.

Possibly the biggest change in the United line up sees Ole Gunnar Solksjaer replaced by Tuesday nights goal scorer Chinese international Fangzhou Dong.

Chiefs will be looking for their first victory over an English team in their seventh outing against Premiership clubs dating back to 1992. Perhaps there is something in the stars of Chiefs as the Vodacom Challenge Final is being played at Vodacom Loftus, as it was at this venue when Chiefs recorded their only time victory to date over a European team since South Africa’s re entry into international sport.

On that occasion the Amakhosi defeated Portuguese outfit Benfica by a goal to nil in the 1995 United Bank Challenge which also included English club Leeds United and current PSL Champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
