The 2006 ABSA Cup has been aptly titled as the cup of dreams, for Kaizer Chiefs defender Jimmy Tau the title could not be more appropriate as Tau awaits a confrontation with his old teammates at Orlando Pirates.

For Jimmy the season ending finale could not be better scripted, since his cross city move from Orlando Pirates at the start of the season the talk has been as to how Jimmy would perform when he came up against his old team mates.

Having already gone through two tests in PSL against Pirates and having passed them with distinctions as he played a big role when Chiefs defeated Pirates on both outings in the league, the Amakhosi defender is sure to be in the firing line as Pirates look to avenge the league defeats.

For Jimmy the opportunity of completing a unique hat trick of victories over his former team mates is on the cards, victory over Pirates will be a dream turn into reality.

As Jimmy says “I won one final in Durban this season already and I am confident of another victory in Durban”, talking about the dream final and if he had imagined that at the start of the season Chiefs would play Pirates in the cup final.

Jimmy added “when I came to Chiefs I was aware of the fact that Chiefs have in recent times made it to many more Cup Finals than Pirates. It was on the cards that Chiefs would at least reach one final in the season but to be up against Pirates in the final that is really something I never imagined would happen so quickly”.

Having already met his former team already twice this season and the fact that he helped put the Indian sign over them twice Jimmy is more relaxed ahead of Saturday’s final. When asked as to whether he is having sleepless nights over Saturday’s game his quick fire answer was “at the moment things are much calmer than they were before the two league games, having come through those two games with big performances I am sure that as a team we will be able to pull through and bring home the trophy”.

With the build up for Saturday’s final beginning in earnest Jimmy has as he did earlier in the season set his mind and focus totally on Saturdays game and all other matters have been put to the back of his mind. As he goes out in search of winning his first winners medal in his inaugural official Cup final since he turned professional some six seasons ago.
