Reneilwe Letsholonyane has said that now that Golden Arrows is ‘out of the way’ the team can finally focus on the up coming Soweto derby against Orlando Pirates on Saturday.

'Yeye' is currently on his best form and was on score sheet last night heading in his third goal of the season. He was inspirational in the midfield setting up Kaizer Motaung Jr to score the Club’s 600th goal in the Absa Premiership.

“It is not only tonight but I think I have been playing well since coming back from injury. I should also give credit to the team and the Technical Staff because I cannot do this alone,” said Yeye who was voted Man of the Match for his efforts on Wednesday night.

He told the media at the post match press conference that he and his teammates are looking forward to the Soweto derby, “We are playing here at Orlando…closer to my home. The match against Golden Arrows was always going to be difficult but now that they are out of the way we can fully focus on Pirates. We are not worried about Pirates as a team but we will focus on what we have to do on the field,” he said.

Letsholonyane, a Kaizer Chiefs fan at birth also shared his derby memories in an interview in the latest issue of Amakhosi magazine.

“I have been watching Soweto derbies from a young age, always supporting Kaizer Chiefs. Ace Khuse, Doctor Khumalo, Brian Baloyi and Patrick Mbuthu, basically all Amakhosi players I admired. They all had the right temperament to do well in Soweto derbies.

Above all, I loved watching Khumalo and Khuse play in Derbies, as I always wanted to play like them. When it came to penalties, it was Brian Baloyi as I knew that he most likely would save the ball from the spot,” recalled Letsholonyane.
