Lets gear up for Charity Cup Makhosi!

Kaizer Chiefs Management has urged all Amakhosi faithful to vote for the Club in ensuring our participation in this year’s edition of Telkom Charity Cup hosted in North West. The province gets an opportunity to host this event for the second consecutive year after hosting the 22nd edition last year.



Previously sponsored by a milling company, the Telkom Charity which is one of South Africa’s popular sporting event will be held in the on the 2nd August for the entire day. The proceeds of the event goes towards charity and this year more than 70 charities from across the country benefited from last year’s event.



By midday, the Phefeni Glamour Boys were on number five with 8984 votes behind early pacesetters Mamelodi Sundowns, Amazulu, Bloemfontein Celtic and archrivals Orlando Pirates who are currently leading the pack.



Kaizer Chiefs is the only Club that has participated in all the charity tournaments since its inception in 1986.



Club’s Supporters Manager, Cecil Motaung is encouraging supporters to go all out and vote for the team.



“The Club’s supporters need to realize that their votes are very crucial for the team to participate in the Telkom Charity for the benefit of the team and the initiative aimed at helping the needy. For the stadium to be full Kaizer Chiefs must be there and I would like to take this opportunity to urge our supporters to go all out and vote. They can do this either by calling the landline no 086 2233 608. Calls from the cell phone will not count. We are aware that some of our supporters are working during the day but they can still sms CHIEFS to 34763” he says.



Kaizer Chiefs who has already bagged the Mpumalanga Premier’s International Cup will be looking at continuing with preparations for what promises to be thrilling season, 2008/2009. Kaizer Chiefs who has won the tournament for a record eleven times with their last win coming in 2002/2003 season will be looking at bringing the trophy to Taung Village this year.



The one-day tournament has seen the club unleashing lots of talent over the years; talent that includes former midfield maestro Doctor Khumalo who made his debut in the tournament in 1987 and went on to achieve the legendary status at the club. Others include, Isaac Khungwane, Thabo Mooki and many others.
