Amakhosi striker Knwoledge Musona who has scored 14 goals in the Absa Premiership this season and 5 in other cup competitions, is hoping that his first of two goals during Chiefs 2-0 win over Mpumalanga Black Aces back in December which has been nominated as one of the goals of the season will land him the accolade for the Absa – lutely Awesome goal.

Musona’s spectacular over head kick which put Chiefs 1-0 up inside the first minute of the game against Aces back six months ago along with goals from Tlou Segolela of Orlando Pirates and one from Ajax Cape Town’s Thulani Serero.

Speaking of the goal against Aces Musona said, “it was the kind of goal that you don’t practice on the training ground”, divulged Musona who then spoke of his execution of the strike.

“When the ball came in from Thomas Sweswe I knew that I had to somehow get to it and I threw myself into the air and when I connected with the ball I felt that it would trouble the keeper and thankfully it went in.”

Musona reflecting back with Kaizerchiefs.com on the past season spoke of the goals that he rates as amongst his best of the current campaign, “I feel that goal against Aces was the best, If I have to pinpoint other goals I would say the one I scored from a free kick against Bloemfontein Celtic in the MTN8 quarterfinals.

Also my second goal against Pirates when I lifted the ball over the goalkeeper and with an improvised header got the ball over the line it came the end of a good overall team move.”

While his goals have won games for Chiefs and earned them valuable points as well the Zimbabwean hit man credits his teammates for the fact that he has been able to win himself at the top of the Goalscorers chart.

“Should this goal win the award it will make what has been a memorable season even better, I could not have scored these goals on my own and I must credit my teammates for helping me lift my game and aiding me in finding these goals. To me every goal that I scored for the team with the help of my teammates is a great goal.”

Musona reflecting on the season in its entirety is pleased with his contributions but is hoping for a final swansong to the 2010 – 2011 campaign by scoring in Chiefs final league game of the season against Amazulu which will take his tally for the season in all competitions to 20 goals.

As he concluded saying” last season I scored 8 goals and this time thankfully I have managed to build on that by getting to 19 goals and hopefully next season I can improve on this.

With one game to go in the league this season I would like to reach that magical 20 goal mark and it will be straight out of my dreams if it is the goal that can hopefully win us the league title.”
