His national side might have lost terribly, but rising star and goal minder Itumeleng Khune who plays for Kaizer Chiefs believes he is now ready to don the famous black and gold jersey.

Being an understudy to now departed Rowen Fernandez in the past, Khune has vowed to make the number 1 spot his own.

“I am matured now and my game has improved vastly. I have been learning a lot under Rowen and Emile Baron and this is my time to shine. But that means I have to fight badly if I am to realise my dream.”

With Chiefs aiming to return to winning ways, Khune remains adamant that the tactical miles of coach Muhsin Ertugral will steer the team to where it belongs.

“He is the right man and all we need to do as players is to play for him. He comes with a lot of experience and I hope we learn. I am a youngster and seeing what he did at his former team, I am convinced my time to play regularly has emerged.”
