Amakhosi goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune has spoken highly of Kaizer Chiefs off season acquisitions Tefu Mashamaite, Keegan Ritchie and Brent Lawler as he believes that their addition to the squad will only help to make the team more competitive during the 2011 – 2012 season.

In a discussion with Kaizerchiefs.com on Monday morning the Chiefs shot stopper said, “we trained with Brent towards the end of last season and we got to know him and I am glad to see that he has signed with us. He is a nice person and a hard worker on the field.

With regards to Tefu and Keegan I have spent a lot of time with them in Bafana Bafana camps and also played against them many times, I know just how good they are and in addition they have the Bafana experience and have played at the highest level.”

Khune also feels that it is important that the new players fit into their new surroundings as quickly as possible, “we welcome them and try to make them feel at home and at ease.

So that they can give their best on the field of play which is all that really matters, when you add players of the quality of these guys to your team its good because it makes you stronger as a unit.”

Of his own hopes for the new season Khune said, “it might still be June and the season begins in August but I am already thinking about May next year. I spent time in the off season plotting my goals and objectives and I have laid them out and hopefully at the end of the coming season they would have been reached.”

Khune who was part of Chiefs first training session ahead of the new campaign which took place at the clubs headquarters in Naturena in Southern Johannesburg on Monday, is pleased to be back at training after having had three weeks off after returning in early June from Bafana Bafana duty.

In concluding his discussion with kaizerchiefs.com Khune said of his return to the training ground, “when you in an environment that you enjoy being in you long for it when you away. I am happy to be back with my friends and teammates and enjoying ourselves out on the training ground.”
