Bafana Bafana no. 1 goalkeeper, Itumeleng “Spider Kid” Khune has paid a glowing tribute to teammate, Arthur Bartman who won both the Player’s Player of the Year and Player of the Year awards in a glittering ceremony held in Midrand on Tuesday, 25 May 2010.

The uncompromising Ventersdorp-born goalkeeper who together with his Club teammates, Siphiwe Tshabalala and Reneilwe Letsholonyane took time off Bafana Bafana camp to attend the glittering function, spoke highly of the Bartman.

“He works very hard at training and deserves the recognition tonight,” said Khune speaking to kaizerchiefs.com after the function.

“Arthur (Bartman) is an easy going guy who has also helped me a lot with my game. He was also very supportive during the time I was injured.

He continued to offer support when I played ahead of him in the team. I want to wish him all the best for the future,” said Khune adding that he will be back at the Club after the World Cup to fight for the no. 1 jersey at Chiefs once more.

Itumeleng Khune who won the 2007/2008 Telkom Player of the Tournament and went on to win the Kaizer Chiefs Player of the Year 2007/2008 awards is expected to play a key role for Bafana Bafana in the upcoming soccer spectacle to kick off at Soccer City in June, 11.
