Kaizer Chiefs national under-23 goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune has been given a leave of absence for a month as he prepares himself for his matric or grade twelve exams.

Khune, who has recently been deputizing for Emile Baron while Rowen Fernandez is recovering from injury, recently made his national under-23 debut as they drew 2-2 and won 1-0 against the Ivory Coast.

The promising young keeper has been juggling completing high school with his first team commitments since being drafted into the team by former coach Ted Dumitru last season.

Commenting on Khune’s application for leave Ernst Middendorp said: “We need to allow our players to develop in various way, not just on the field away from it as well I wish him all the best in his examinations”.

Khune will begin his examinations of the 2nd of November and will return to training on the 25th of November, his final examination will be on the 24th November.
