Important developments have taken place at the Kaizer Chiefs Village after the Chairman of the Club, Mr. Kaizer Motaung met with the team’s technical department on Monday, 04 April 2005.

As part of the clubs’ investment in developing both players & technical skills which are part of the clubs’ philosophy & technical policy, Kaizer Chiefs has decided to reorganise the team’s technical resources and empower the Development Programme as a means to ensure a continued flow of top quality players to the 1st team.

Kaizer Chiefs has therefore identified Doctor Khumalo & Ace Khuse as the right candidates for the club to undergo this process.

“We believe that this will go a long way in assisting both Ace & Doctor with their quest in becoming top South African coaches and at the same time guarantee the natural progression and development of more quality players for the 1st team. All in all we are investing in both the coaches & the clubs’ future,” stated club chairman, Mr. Kaizer Motaung.

Head Coach, Ted Dumitru, says “In line with the policy of the Club, Doctor and Ace will commence a process of high-level qualification which was difficult for them to accomplish with the 1st team due to the extremely busy schedule the team has. Personally I think this is a golden opportunity which will benefit & add a lot of value to the club.”

The club wants to make sure that all coaches go through a qualification process that will allow them to be recognised & acknowledged as top qualified coaches, a need that has been clearly identified within the Kaizer Chiefs ranks.

Ace Khuse is excited by this prospect, “This will give me the opportunity to grow and not only assist in developing new talent for the 1st team but it will also go a long way in making me a better coach & individual. This is what I have been looking for in order to contribute more meaningfully to the club”, stated Khuse.

“It might sound like a demotion”, says Doctor Khumalo, “but its actually a bigger responsibility of being part of the development of young players and it will surely pay dividends in the long run. Obviously it is a challenge as I have never worked in developing youngsters before. The exciting part about this change is that if offers room for personal growth as a coach”.

From now on the 1st team will be managed by the Head Coach, Ted Dumitru and assisted by Farouk Khan.
