Amakhosi coach Ted Dumitru was highly impressed with the performance on the day but added that the score margin could have been wider. "We played very well and I was impressed but as usual we missed a lot of scoring opportunities," said Dumitru.
Amakhosi were minus several of their regulars who helped Bafana Bafana to a 2-1 victory against Costa Rica in the Nelson Mandela Challenge on Saturday.
National under-23 star Khanye gave the visitors the lead in the first half with a beautifully taken goal. "It was a great celebration especially with the festival that was taking place in Bloemfontein and I think everybody enjoyed themselves," said Dumitru.
"But more importantly we proved once more that we can easily select two competitive line-ups for any match. The players gave a good account of themselves. It is now clear to everyone that competition is very tough and that they will have to work even harder at every given opportunity to get a regular place.
"I think this bodes well for the team and we are in for a very exciting season. Musasa got a run after a lengthy injury lay-off and missed a one or two clear chances but overall he looked impressive," said Dumitru.
Chiefs were invited by the mayor, who is a big Kaizer Chiefs fan, to be part of the celebrations along with Bloemfontein Celtic - one of the best supported teams in that region. And this was evident as the stadium was packed to capacity.
