Former Kaizer Chiefs development coach Farouk Khan said on Wednesday that he was thrilled to be back home after he was unveiled as an addition to the Amakhosi technical staff.

Khan returns to the Amakhosi fold after spending two seasons at Cape Town side Santos. "It's nice to be back home,” declared Khan. “The opportunities that come with being back home are immense. It is a great opportunity for me to work with my mentor, Ted Dumitru."

"Years ago when I started out in football Ted was very instrumental in my personal development as a coach. The first time I was privileged enough to study in Brazil was due to Ted’s initiative. Coming back home is a huge opportunity for me to pick up from where I left off with Ted and to gain a lot of insight, experience and wisdom and to develop not only myself but the people that I work with.

"I am really privileged and I want top thank the chairman, Kaizer Motaung for making this opportunity possible for me to come back to a club of this stature. I am looking forward to a bright and prosperous future with Kaizer Chiefs," said Khan.

Responding to a question regarding the three assistant coaches and their roles or positions, coach Ted Dumitru said: “Each assistant has his area of activity and it’s not about who is the first, second or third assistant.”

Club chairman Kaizer Motaung said: “In view of the challenges facing us we needed to go to the drawing boards to plan for the challenges facing us. We had a very successful campaign last season after a good team building exercise in South Korea. Unfortunately due to the tightness of the programme we couldn’t take the team away.”

“But the Vodacom Challenge will provide us with a platform that we desire to prepare for the new season. And of course the Vodacom Challenge sets the tone for us for the new season.”
