Kaizer, Musona can do the job for Chiefs - Auseb

Former Kaizer Chiefs defender, Mohammed Auseb believes that a firing Kaizer Motaung JR and a fit Knowledge Musona will be key on Club’s ambitions to bring home the Absa Premiership this season.

The two have banged in sixteen goals between themselves with Knowledge “Smiling Assassin” Musona banging in eleven league goals, while Kaizer Motaung JR has rattled the net on 6 occasions since January 2011.

“Slice” as the player was affectionately known during his days as a no nonsense but clean defender at Chiefs has been keeping an eye on his former Club despite relocating back to Namibia where he is currently a Technical Director of Oshakati City.

“I remember Kaizer (Motaung JR) as the youngster while I was still at Chiefs. He went to Germany which was good for his development. He excelled under Ernest Middendorp coming close in winning the Lesley Manyathela Award in 2005/2006 season. In my opinion he should be one of the top strikers in the country if it was not for injuries,”

“He is now back and has been scoring gaols for the team. His goal against Orlando Pirates has helped his confidence. I am happy for him,”

Auseb, a Namibian international also spoke highly of Rookie of the year 2009/2010 Knowledge Musona, “I was also one of the people who were sceptical when the Club signed him. The boy has proved to be a good buy for the Club. He was on fire early this season banging in goals from all angles. A fit Musona alongside Kaizer Motaung JR or any of the two will have a big say at this crucial stage of the season,”

Auseb known for his calm demeanour that earned him respect from his teammates and opposition strikers was quick to point out that “collective effort” is always very important in a team that has ambitions to win the championship.

“Everyone has to chip in with goals - even midfielders like Reneilwe Letsholonyane they have to come in so is Josta Dladla. Defenders can also win games during set pieces and it has been good to see the centre backs going forward. I have confidence in the whole team and I have no doubt that the boys can rise to the occasion,” he added.

The Phefeni Glamour Boys who have a game in hand are currently on 4th position with 46 points and they will be hoping to close the gap between themselves and leaders Ajax Cape Town (52 points) when they square up with Bidvest Wits on Wednesday, 06 April 2011.
