Kaizer Chiefs striker, Kaizer Motaung Jr will this week jet out of the country to represent the country at the Goal4Africa launch. Goal4Africa will be celebrating its kick off in honour of Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday. The benefit game match will take place in the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany on Saturday, 12th July.

Kaizer Motaung Jr will join a galaxy of stars including, Goal4Africa global ambassador and AC Milan maestro Clarence Seedorf, German national team and Chelsea midfielder, Michael Ballack, AC Milan’s Paulo Maldini, Arsenal’s van Persie, Togo and Arsenal’s Emmanuel Adebayor, Liverpool’s Steven Gerrad, Real Madrid defender and captain of the Azzuri Fabio Cannavaro, Chelsea’s striker and Cote de Vore captain, “Didi” Drogba, Michael Essien and many more.

Michael Ballack and Clarence Seedorf have been appointed team captains. The two teams are called ‘Edu’ and ‘Cation’ underlying the fact that football players around the globe join forces to support Goal4Africa. Formula 1 legend, Michael Schumacher will join one of the two teams to kick some goals for Africa.

Goal4Africa is a fundraising mechanism and global awareness campaign. Its objective is to raise funds "for" educational and development programmes, and to promote the development of football, throughout the African continent. The idea was inspired by two major upcoming events: the Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday, on 18 July 2008, and FIFA World Cup in South Africa, in 2010. The program in a nutshell is all about building legacy for the future of Africa by bringing together two great forces Education and Football.

“I was shocked and excited when Abdulla (Mayet) told me about the invitation. I later got a call from Paulo Manchado from Oninternational and could not believe it. I mean I have watched these guys on TV and for me to be invited is a pleasing honour. Abdulla told me that I have been invited together with Shaun (Bartlett) to represent the Club”

“The match is for the good cause and that is what makes it more important to me. I have always wanted to take part in events aimed at alleviating some of the challenges we are experiencing on the continent. The invitation to participate in this game gives me an opportunity to enhance the Club’s commitment to giving back to less fortunate communities. Africa is struggling and through football we can assist in responding to some of the challenges we are confronted with, because football is a language that all of us can speak. It is a universal language,” he says.

Kaizer who at some stage spent time at 1860 Munich says the opportunity to go to Germany for this game will serve as motivation ahead of the Vodacom Challenge and what promises to be a grueling 2008/9 season.

“We are all focused to the upcoming season as the team. I am looking forward to learn from some of the best footballers in the world. I will bring that back whatever I pick up from this experience to them team. Personally this for me serve as motivation to do well in the up coming season,” he adds.

The Chairman and Managing Director, Mr. Kaizer Motaung who is also a global ambassador for Goal4Africa, the CEO of Goal4Africa Ken Simmons and Kaizer Chiefs Marketing Director, Jessica Motaung will complete the list of people attending the event in Germany.
