Siphiwe de Jonge was born in Johannesburg and adopted by his Dutch parents in 2008.

He's named after Kaizer Chiefs legend, Siphiwe 'Shabba' Tshabalala.

Siphiwe’s parents are fervent fans of Kaizer Chiefs and they introduced him to Tshabalala for the first time in 2009 at Pretoria's Loftus Versfeld when still a seven-months-old baby.

They met again in 2017, when Siphiwe had reached the age of eight.

He still communicates with Tshabalala from time to time. "What a fantastic person."

The youngster lives with his parents in Holland and travelled by car with his mother Kirsa to watch the Glamour Boys face Dutch side PEC Zwolle.

When Siphiwe heard about Chiefs coming to the Netherlands for their pre-season camp, his first thoughts were: "I absolutely have to see one of their matches. It's a must!"

"Kaizer Chiefs is the Club I support; they are in my blood!"

When the Glamour Boys nets the eventual match-winning solitary goal, De Jonge jumps up: 'I went through the roof from happiness. I felt so immensely happy!"

During the game, he continuously heard the name 'Shabba'. For a moment, De Jonge ponders if perhaps Tshabalala is actually at the grounds. However, instead, he realised that the Amakhosi supporters were calling out to another 'Shabba', Mduduzi Shabalala.

Interestingly, by then, he had already established a liking in Shabalala's style of play. "What a good player," he enthuses, "full of movement and on-the-ball skill."

And, because Siphiwe doesn't fancy himself as a goalkeeper, "that's a really difficult position", he appreciated the performances of both Brandon Petersen and Bruce Bvuma, who respectively played in the first and second half against PEC Zwolle.

It's a pity that Amakhosi, despite another solid performances, lost 2-1 against Dutch side FC Twente in their last pre-season friendly on Wednesday evening.

Siphiwe's mind, however, is more focused on the positives - the win over PEC Zwolle, the match he saw live.

"That was such a fantastic win," Siphiwe concludes. "I wish Kaizer Chiefs all the best for the upcoming season. I will continue to follow the team closely from the Netherlands."
