Kaizer Chiefs Family grieves the passing away of Dr. Phil Maepa

Chairman of Kaizer Chiefs, Mr. Kaizer Motaung, the Board of Directors, Management, Staff, Technical Team, Players and Kaizer Chiefs Family in its totality is saddened by the passing away of the longest serving doctor in the Club history, Dr. Phil Maepa.



Dr. Maepa, known for his superior work ethic that is compared to none, commitment to his job, loyalty and the passion he had for the Brand passed on midday, Friday 22 August 2008 after long illness. He joined the Club in the early 80s as a young lad and left the club because of personal reasons early February this year.



The Chairman, Mr. Kaizer Motaung who reacted with shock on the news described Dr. Maepa as the member of the Family, a man who devoted his life to the Club.



“He joined us in the early 80s and that he stayed with the Club for this long showed that he was doing a very good job. His commitment was second to none.

He always availed himself to help his players even beyond the scope of his work. He would extend his hand to help even the family members of the people associated with the Club”

The Chairman concluded, “I will remember him for even taking his own time away to assist whenever he was called by the Club to avail his services.

He played a huge role in recruiting fans for the Club in the area where he was staying, Siyabuswa in Mpumalanga, an area that boasts today of Kaizer Chiefs supporters proposed branch.

His passing away is a loss to soccer fraternity and medical industry that is in need for people of his calibre.

On behalf of the Club, I send my heartfelt condolences to the entire Maepa family, friends, colleagues and the affected ones”
