Kaizer Chiefs had their last training session yesterday morning at North West University ahead of the crunch fixture against Mamelodi Sundowns today. The Glamour Boys lock horns in the most anticipated fixture of the day at Mmabatho Stadium in Mafikeng.

Kickoff is at 12h00. The first game will be between archrivals, Orlando Pirates and Platinum Stars at 10h00.

Kaizer Chiefs defender who made his debut for Kaizer Chiefs in the same tournament last year told kaizerchiefs.com that he and his teammates are looking forward to the game against rivals, Mamelodi Sundowns.

Kaizer Chiefs will be looking at undoing the defeat they suffered in the hands of the Brazilians the last time the two teams met. The game was following a taxing Nedbank fixture in Durban where Amakhosi played a game of their lives but ended up losing on penalties in front of a packed ABSA Stadium in Durban. A week later the two sides met again, this time in the league and Chiefs came second best with Josta Dladla scoring the solitary goal of the game.

Moketi “Biaino” Tsotetsi speaking to kaizerchiefs.com on Friday said preparations for the game have gone well and the entire Kaizer Chiefs camp is confident ahead of the game.

“The game against Sundowns is going to be a tough one but we all looking forward to it. They have signed big name players but we have a young and talented team we should match them pound to pound. Everyone has worked very hard for the game and preparations have been marvelous. We are confident of our chances come Saturday” said the Vaal born defender.

Tsotetsi has had to watch from the bench in the past couple of games only making appearances as substitute as Jonathan Quartey and his former teammate at Cosmos, Valery Nahayo have been doing the business in the centre of defence but he said that he has not given up on his place in the starting line up.

“The coach is giving other players a chance because this is pre-season and you have to look at different combinations. The guys have done extremely well in particular in our game against Manchester United in Cape Town and against Orlando Pirates in Port Elizabeth. I am working hard to win a place in the starting line up” he said.

‘Kete’ as the player is known in Naturena told kaizerchiefs.com that he has fond memories about his debut last year against Orlando Pirates but would like this time to end on the winning side.

“It was for the first time for me to play in front of a packed stadium and I was nervous. I scored an own goal. I must say though, my teammates were very helpful as I recovered quickly from that mistake. We ended up losing on penalties…I am hoping this time things will be different against Mamelodi Sundowns” he said.

Meanwhile, Itumeleng Khune who received a red card in the last league game against Black Leopards is eligible to play in the Telkom Charity Tournament. He will however miss the first two games in the Top 8.
