Not the result, Chiefs had wanted not the kind of result the Amakhosi could have afforded at this stage in the title race as they were held to a goalless draw by Jomo Cosmos at the FNB Stadium. Once again Chiefs had dominated play but could not turn possession and shots at goal into goals, as Chiefs lost valuable ground in the race for the PSL title. With the kind of opportunities that fell their way the Amakhosi will really feel that they robbed themselves of three points, although goal mouth action was scarce in the first half David Radebe was gifted with an opportunity to give Chiefs the lead on the stroke of half time.

David Obua sent in an accurate cross field pass which found Radebe in acres of space in front of the Cosmos goal, the Chiefs striker ballooned the ball over when it would have been easier to have found the back of the net. The pattern continued into the second half with Chiefs finding players in the right places but were unable to produce the finished product to bring joy to the face of Coach Ernst Middendorp.

Chiefs came with in inches of taking the lead on sixty four minutes when Fabian McCarthy saw his header cleared of the line by Mhlathi off a David Mathebula corner. McCarthy again demonstrated his uncanny ability to fend off defenders and find space at the far post, on this occasion he was unfortunate not to have found his name on the score sheet. After initially beating Phali he watched in horror as Mhlathi denied him the opportunity to once again score and see Chiefs climb to the top of the table.

David Obua went close in injury time, leaping above the Cosmos defence to head just wide after Arthur Zwane had done the hard work of fending of two defenders to send in a looping cross. With the final whistle a number of Chiefs players fell to the ground as the Amakhosi have taken a step back in the hunt for a third consecutive PSL title, Chiefs now have to regroup for the visit of Bloemfontein Celtic in seven days time.
