Kaizer Chiefs was represented by its Marketing Director, Jessica Motaung, at the recent Leaders in Football Conference, held in London last week. The two day business summit for senior decision makers in the world of football was held at Stamford Bridge, the home of Chelsea Football Club. Over 40 nations were represented making it a truly international gathering.



The Conference that kicked off on Tuesday, 7 October 2008 and ended on Wednesday, 8 October 2008 was graced by world leaders in football including, Lord Triesman, Chairman of the British Football Association, Sir Dave Richardson, Chairman, The Premier League; Richard Scudamore, CEO of the Premier League, David Taylor, General Secretary of Uefa, Mohamed bin Hammam, President, Asian Football Congress; Bruce Buck, Chairman of Chelsea FC, and Ivan Gazidis, Deputy Commissioner of the MLS among others.



The conference included an array of speakers, workshops, exhibition and a networking arena. Topical issues were debated, including the impact on football of the credit crunch that is currently gripping the world. Valuable information was exchanged through presentations, workshops and networking.



Jessica described the conference as a great platform for leaders within the football industry to debate and network. “It was a valuable experience and I learned a great deal. There were topics relating to the governance of the game, building a global league, operating in a competitive sports market, developing the best talent, and others,” said the Kaizer Chiefs Marketing Director.



“I was impressed by the participation of numerous football clubs, including those from the US market, Europe and Asia, and sponsors, marketers, and other industry experts. I was also pleased by the interest expressed in the Kaizer Chiefs brand, and used the opportunity to market and promote the Club, its brand and South Africa,” said Motaung.
