Jose Torealba’s Diary: 03 November - 16 November

Kaizer Chiefs’ Venezuelan striker, Jose Torrealba gave us a lowdown of the week ahead of his first official Soweto derby on November 15, 2008 at Mmabatho Stadium.

Monday, 03 November

It is a very quiet day at training with everyone looking focused on the job at hand. We are playing SuperSport on Wednesday in Pretoria and we host Orlando Pirates in a big one on Saturday in Mafikeng. I am highly motivated and feeling confident after scoring against AmaZulu over the weekend.

We are training in a great environment today with everyone in high spirits. The team is focused. We all know how important the game against SuperSport United. After training we go to our hotel where we usually camp before our games in Pretoria. My roommate is captain Jimmy Tau.

We played tactically well against SuperSport and we deserved to win at the end. I am very happy after the game as we had managed to win three games in a row and we jumped to even higher position on the log.

Thursday, 06 November

Not much of a rest for us, we need to keep on working and focused on our next game, ORLANDO PIRATES!!! It is not only about three points in this game. I did play twice against Pirates during the preseason...I scored during Vodacom Challenge when we beat them 2-0 and came close to scoring in the Telkom KO Final in Mafikeng in a game we lost by 1-0. This is now serious!

Friday, 07 November

I am very confident that we will get a good result against Pirates. While in camp, I am feeling a bit anxious but we have won three out of three so there is that feeling that we will continue. We could be in first or second place if we beat them. It is all I can think about as I go to bed.

Saturday, 08 November

Very disappointed! It is not only because we lost the game, but also the way in which we played. We missed an opportunity to climb the log. We drive back to Joburg after the game. Everyone is very disappointed with the result.

Sunday, 09 November

I enjoy my day off with my family. It is difficult not to think about the game against Orlando Pirates. On Monday, we are back at training again...it is very important that we remain focus. Our next game is against BidVest Wits. I believe we have a great team, and fortunately we have time to fight for the championship. We cannot afford to drop more points!
