Vladimir Vermezovic has termed the game against SuperSport this coming Sunday the ‘battle of champions’, after the Glamour Boys were crowned Telkom Knockout champions last weekend.

SuperSport United are the reigning league champions and the two sides will hope to outdo each other when they meet in the Nedbank Last 32 fixture scheduled for Rand Stadium on Sunday, April 18, 2010.

“The game against Ajax Cape Town is now over. Our focus is on the other champions, SuperSport United,” Vermezovic told the media at the Club’s Headquarters, Chiefs Village in Naturena.

“SuperSport has shown that they are a very good team and for them to win the league was not a fluke. They have danger man, Daine Klate, back for this weekend game. SuperSport is always dangerous on set pieces and Klate is always the man behind delivering those quality set pieces. Having said that, they are not a one-team man and they can surprise you with guys like Anthony Laffour. We will need to be at our best to overcome them,” he said.

Vermezovic is delighted the match will be played at Rand Stadium, a stadium where the Glamour Boys have displayed some of their finest moments during their 40 years of existence.

“I am told the Rand Stadium is one of the stadiums where the Club has played its best football and this is good for us,” he said.

“The fact that we won the Telkom Knockout Cup has no bearing going into this game. That now belongs to the past and the future is the Nedbank Cup. I am optimistic going into this game despite missing some of the key players with injuries. Gerald Sibeko, Thomas Sweswe and George Lebese will miss the game due to injuries and we have the likes of Michael Nkambule, Nkosinathi Nhleko, Tshepo Bulu and Lucky Khune struggling with flu,” he added.
