IN MEMORY OF SOLOMON STIX MOREWA
IN MEMORY OF SOLOMON STIX MOREWA

Today I share my grief with the family, friends and relatives of the departed Solomon Stix Morewa who I have personally known as a colleague, a friend and a fellow partner in the business of football in South Africa.

Bro Stix presented an aura of strict and disciplined soccer administration at the time when our football set sporting trends in transforming the socio-political discourse of our country. Amongst his wishes, I am sure that he would have loved to see the passing of his long-cherished dream of hosting the 2010 Soccer World Cup. It must be remembered that he pioneered all attempts and efforts to gain South Africa’s recognition into the international arena of sporting events. He thus leaves a formidable legacy and an indelible contribution towards the development and growth of football in our country.

I personally have fond memories of him as a friend when we met in all fun-filled sporting forums and social events. His humility and his sense of good-natured personal relations qualify him as a father figure to many of us in football. He will be remembered for his smile and his willingness to offer help be it in thought and deed when approached for such.

May I therefore on behalf of all at Kaizer Chiefs including our players, our supporters and our working colleagues, express our heartfelt condolences to the family of our beloved Bro Stix. It is always through these challenging times where we all should humbly submit to the soothing might of our God as we crave His assured healing and mercy. We stand powerless in His expression of His will particularly when it touches our lives by rightfully yet unexpectedly claiming those we have grown to know and love.

May the soul of Bro Stix rest in peace.
