Having recently worked his way into the starting eleven after sitting on the sidelines for over six months as a result of a groin injury, George Lebese is ready to do ‘whatever’ it takes for him to play regularly for the Amakhosi.

During Chiefs goalless draw against Platinum Stars at the weekend Lebese made his first start of the new season and although it was the first competitive game that he had featured in for around six months he is now aiming to be a regular feature for the club and is also looking to improve on his performances against Stars.

As he told kaizerchiefs.com “it was wonderful playing again, of my performance against Stars I think it was not up to the kind of standard that I set for myself, I know that I am capable of playing much better. I am not going to use any excuses around the fact that it was my first game back after the injury, hopefully I get a chance to play against Swallows and I am confident that I can do much better.”

The 21 year old is targeting starting this evenings encounter against Moroka Swallows where Chiefs will face off in league action with one of their Soweto rivals for the first time this season, he does admit that it is really up to the coach to decide whether or not he will face Swallows.

“As long as the coach thinks I am producing for him and the team, then I am happy to stay in the starting line up, my aim is to be productive in every game that I play in, and also to make an impact on the match” added a fired up Lebese.

The young midfielder is aware that keeping his place in the starting eleven will take a lot of hard work ask as he faces tough competition in order to do so, “we in a fortunate position here at the club as we have a lot of players, while on one hand it shows our depth it also means that it adds to the challenge of trying to be in the team week in and week out. This is also good because we have many players and as a result we are able to change our approach for each game.”

In the meantime though Lebese is now looking at seeing more game time this season, as he concluded by saying “I was happy to play one game and now I must be ready and am willing to work to make sure that I can play more games”.
