Newly signed 17 year old sensation, Nelson Malula has told kaizerchiefs.com that he is confident of succeeding in his career at Kaizer Chiefs despite losing his father having just signed a three year deal with the Club.



The young midfielder who has already earned himself a nickname “TsikiTsiki” after Thabo Mooki was forced to miss the Telkom Charity Cup due to family bereavement. Now back at the Village the youngster is determined to work harder.

“My father (Lebohang Mathupa) was very excited when I told him that I had signed a contract with my childhood favourite Club, Kaizer Chiefs,” recalled the soft spoken youngster.

“I wanted him to see me playing at Soccer City but it was not to be. I have now put that behind me and I am grateful for the support that I have received both at home and here at the Club. It is a dream of my father to see me succeeding here and I will give it my all to make him happy,” said Malula.



Malula revealed that he has already seen improvements in his game, “I was taught a lot at Harmony Academy about basics and so on. I have been here for two months now but I have learnt a lot on positioning and I think I have improved tactically. I am still young and I am willing to learn from the senior players in the team. I am happy to train with guys like Josta Dladla and many others who will help me grow as a player,”

On the nickname Tsiki Tsiki Malula said he is honoured being nicknamed after his hero, “I think our style is more or less the same. Tsiki was a bit slowly and I am also like that...I am honoured to be named after him,” concluded Malula.
