Muhsin Ertugral sang praises for his players following a 4-0 drubbing that sent Engen Santos out crashing in the MTN 8 quarterfinal match played at Loftus Stadium on Saturday night. Chiefs caught the usually sturbon Santos by surprise scoring three fast goals in the first half.

Amakhosi did not only score the goals that mattered on the night but played enterprising football that left Santos chasing shadows in most parts of the games. Ertugral has always emphasized that he wants his team to play with lot of pace in particular when they are in the opposition''s half. He was pleased with the way things turned out on the night.

“We analysed Santos and we knew that they were going to man mark us, so we just told our players to run to spaces. We did that very well. I had during the week criticized my midfielders for not scoring goals and they responded positively tonight.

In the first 20 minutes we were very aggressive with our pace. We knew in the second half they were going to come very strong but I told the boys during half time to keep possession of the ball. We played with lot of pace in the first stanza and if we can play in that tempo for 70 minutes then we can trouble lot of teams this season” he said.

He once again paid tribute to striker Jose Torrealba who’s running of the ball was remarkable again on Saturday night.

“Torrealba is not only a goal scorer but a very intelligent player that creates spaces for his teammates to exploit. This makes him a very integral part of this young team. His combination at the moment with Gert Schalkwyk is tremendous. People should not expect him to score in every match” said Muhsin.
