Head Coach, Vladimir Vermezovic sprung a surprise on Sunday afternoon when the Amakhosi took on Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Versfeld when he partnered Thomas Sweswe with youngster, Lincoln Zvasiya.

It was in a second successive game that the Serbian born coach had handed a debut to a youngster in a high profile game. In May, ‘VV’ gave youngster, Lucky Baloyi his full debut against Mamelodi Sundowns in a top of the table clash. Baloyi has grown since that defeat at Loftus and Zvasiya is expected to follow the same path.

The 20-year-old already a full international affectionately known as ‘Harare’ had a superb game playing alongside his countryman and scorer on the day Thomas Sweswe. He did well to keep his countryman, Nyasha Mushekwi and Katlego Mpela, in check when he was introduced as a second half substitute.

He took time to speak to kaizerchiefs.com on Monday afternoon reflecting on his debut in the gold and black; “I am excited to have made my official debut for the Club. I knew that my chance was going to come but I did not expect to make my debut in such a big game. It was special for me because we won the game having gone through a rough patch.

“Communication was key and I kept talking to our goalkeeper, Arthur (Bartman), Thomas (Sweswe) and Tinashe (Nengomasha). It was easier communicating with the two in field guys because I had played with them the last time for Zimbabwe against Bafana Bafana.

“I also feel that I adapted well and followed the coach’s instructions. I knew on Friday that I was going to start so I was excited but focused. Now I want to establish myself at Chiefs. I want to continue to work hard because it is not going to be easy. It is an honour to wear the Kaizer Chiefs jersey.
