Wayne Matle says he was pleased with his performance after coming on as a substitute on Wednesday night against Ajax Cape Town.

Matle, who made his first appearance of the season after replacing Thabang Rooi at half time, did well at the back and created the winner in stoppage time.

“Credit should go to the team for the win. I was happy to get a run in that game and I am going to continue working hard in improving my game,” said the soft-spoken defender.

“I never dropped my head after recovering from injury and I knew that if I continue working hard the coach will give me the opportunity.

I am not going to put myself under pressure now just because of what happened on Wednesday. I will leave everything to the coach and as for me I am going to work hard and will then take it from there,” he added.

Born on the 21 January 1988, the Chiefs defender who can also play in the midfield, has made 11 overall appearances of the team since joining back in January 2008.

He was part of the MTN8 wining squad last season.
