Kaizer Chiefs current top goalscorer, Gert Schalkwyk has revealed his Christmas wish. The easy going Schalkwyk was talking to kaizerchiefs.com on Wednesday after working with the Team Physio, Dave Milner.

“I have made progress on my knee injury that kept me out of Arrows game but my biggest wish for Christmas is to see the team on top of the log table,” he said.

The Glamour Boys had a slow start to the season which saw them winning only one game out of three in the league. The turning point was when they defeated Bloemfontein Celtic in their own backyard. That was followed by emphatic wins over Supersport United, AmaZulu, Bidvest Wits and Golden Arrows.

Even the loss to archrivals, Orlando Pirates in November did not seem to faze the Glamour Boys.

“We have done well but keeping the momentum is equally important for us. There is a strong feeling among the players that we can go to the Christmas break in a comfortable position.

I might miss the game against Santos in Cape Town this weekend but I have confidence in the team. Santos will be looking for revenge after we knocked them out of the MTN 8 but we should be ready for them,” he added.

Chiefs are currently lying fourth on the log after 10 games with 18 points, a point away from log leaders, Golden Arrows and Ajax Cape Town.
