Kaizer Chiefs will be aiming to keep up with their glowing start to the 2011 – 2012 Absa Premiership campaign when they face Bloemfontein Celtic at the Seisa Ramabodu Stadium at dusk on Saturday evening.

Chiefs head into the game at the top of the league standings having won four of their opening five league fixtures, handing the Amakhosi their best start to a league season since the 2003 – 2004 season.

Having collected 12 out of a possible 15 points from their opening 5 games of the season Chiefs will be looking to build on that, but are well aware that coming back from the Free State with a win will be a tough ask.

Recent history

Chiefs have had a good run in home games against Bloemfontein Celtic in the PSL era drawing just one and winning elven when hosting Celtic, on their travels it has been a slightly different story.

With Celtic as hosts the Amakhosi have squared off with them on 12 occasions in this time winning four, losing four and drawing four games, which indicates the closeness of games between the sides.

In the past two seasons Chiefs while drawing and winning at home have lost and drawn away to Celtic, last season the corresponding fixture ended in an entertaining 2-2 draw with Chiefs fighting back from 2-0 down to rescue a point with Knowledge Musona scoring a late equaliser for the Amakhosi.

Chiefs last away league win over Celtic came almost three years ago in October 2008, Siphiwe Tshabalala scoring in a 1-0 Chiefs win.

Current form

As indicated earlier Chiefs have made a sound start to the season winning four games out of five, their most recent being a morale boosting 2-1 win over Orlando Pirates and presently find themselves a point ahead of SuperSport United on the league standings.

Celtic began the season winning their opening two games, but have lost two and drawn one of their last three games. Their most recent a 2-1 loss to Santos, they are though unbeaten at home this season having won one and drawn one match, Chiefs do also have Tinashe Nengomasha returning for the game. He missed the Pirates clash through suspension.

Kick off for the game is at 18h00
