Fans arriving early at the Eastern Province Rugby Stadium in Port Elizabeth on Sunday (25-03-07), for the eagerly awaited Nelson Mandela Museum Charity Challenge match to be contested between Kaizer Chiefs and Bloemfontein Celtic will receive a special commemorative T-Shirt to mark the occasion, when the stadium gates open at 11h00 for the match which kicks off at 16h45 the first 5 000 through the gates will be handed a souvenir T-Shirt.

Chiefs, who recently defeated Celtic 4-0 in a PSL game played almost 10 days ago at the ABSA Stadium in Durban, will be looking to give their fans in the Eastern Cape a lot to cheer about just as they did for the fans in Durban.

Amakhosi defender and vice-captain Fabian McCarthy explains further, “I was unable to play against Celtic in Durban as I was suspended for the game the guys played really well and gave the fans in Durban a treat. The guys will be looking to put up the same kind of show for our supporters in the Eastern Cape on Sunday afternoon."

McCarthy has also urged the fans to arrive early at the stadium and be inline to receive the free gift on offer, “we have always had very passionate support from our fans in the Eastern Cape, and we are once again looking forward to playing in front of a full house on Sunday afternoon. I urge all the fans to come as early as possible to the stadium, as the organizers have promised to give fans arriving early a T-Shirt.”

Amakhosi midfielder David Mathebula scored an outstanding goal in February 2006, the last time Chiefs and Celtic clashed in an exhibition game played in Port Elizabeth and is looking for similar success on Sunday.

“I have fond memories of the game we played in February last year in Port Elizabeth against Celtic, we won 2-0 and I got to score what I regard as the best goal I have ever scored. It was a shot from way outside the Celtic penalty box and it flew past the goalkeeper and rattled the net, hopefully I can do the same on Sunday afternoon,” said Mathebula.

With Kwaito stars Arthur Mafokate and the gorgeous Chomee, heading the pre-match entertainment bill, there is sure to be a real carnival atmosphere. Organizers have urged fans of all ages to make their way down to the Eastern Province Rugby Stadium, on Sunday afternoon for what will be an eventful and memorable occasion.
