Amakhosi defender Bevan Fransman returned home on Thursday morning after undergoing a two-hour operation on Wednesday to alleviate pain and discomfort he has been suffering from a groin injury for the past two months.

Bevan, who last played for Chiefs in the 1-1 draw against SuperSport United on the 27th November last year, was suffering of a chronic problem in the groin region, which had kept him out of training and matches since the beginning of December.

Bevan’s operation, which was carried out at the Rosebank Clinic in Johannesburg by Doctor Mark Ferguson, the same surgeon who had previously operated on Cyril Nzama and Serge Djiehoua.

Speaking shortly after the operation and clearly still in a lot of pain Fransman said; "I am glad that the operation was carried out successfully and although I am in pain I do not feel the same kind of problems I did in my groin area previously."

The 22-year-old defender has been given strict instructions not to do any strenuous activity for the next ten days and will resume training and other activities in about two months time.

In the mean time the miraculous recovery of striker Serge Djiehoua gains momentum as the big striker faired well on Tuesday in a Cybex test which evaluated the strength of his right leg.

"Serge is slightly off from where we want him to be the test showed that he is up to 96% power in his previously injured right leg we are working on him gaining this 4% needed for us to allow him back into full activity by the end of March," added Chiefs doctor Phil Maepa.

The striker, who is close to returning back to the field of play, says that the hardest part of his injury has been overcoming the psychological pressure the injury has thrown on him. "These past few months have been very hard on me, there was a time when my mind began to play games with me and being able to clear my head and continue getting back to full was extremely difficult. I am more than happy that this entire ordeal will soon be over," said Serge.
