South Africa's mecca soccer venue FNB stadium will be alight this Saturday as the country takes a breather from the hectic Coca Cola Cup action and swings back to Castle Premiership race.

Top on the fixtures is a scintillating one when Kaizer Chiefs host Jomo Cosmos at 18h00 to try and reclaim top position on the Castle Premiership log at the expense of Ezenkosi.

There is enough debate everywhere in the country about who the best club is between the two as football academics compare their current form on paper and FNB stadium management feels there couldn't have been a better game to highlight the venue’s regeneration programme.

"We are more than delighted to have the support of Joburg's hottest giants as we kick start our programme to bring our only soccer stadium back to life again," said FNB stadium general manager, Dennis Mumble.

"We have made good preparations to host the two clubs taking into consideration their vast support and current form.

"We expect between 30 and 40 000 passionate supporters to descend to FNB Stadium this Saturday and we are going to roll out a red carpet for them.

"We have already started that with the suite tickets we are giving away in our competition on the Sowetan and this will, for the first time offer somebody an opportunity to watch the game from the VIP area."

Putco Mafani, communications manager at Kaizer Chiefs highlighted their excitement about Soccer City.

"We are home here, a lot of clubs have been slaughtered here, league games and cup games and Cosmos are no exception and some of those teams are still casualties even now," said Mafani.

"We could not fold our arms and watch this stadium, our own Wembley in South Africa relegated to a white elephant on the eve of the Fifa delegation coming to our country."

Jomo Cosmos team manager, Khwezi Masondo, was confident FNB stadium was on the list of favorite venues for his charges.

"A big ground just like this one is one that favors our boys most. It is good to be back home and Chiefs know this is the last place where they would have preferred to play us," said Masondo.

"They are in trouble. The stadium is highly accessible by train, by busses and by taxis and so we feel this is a good thing to bring the vibe back to FNB and we salute all those involved in the plans.

Amakhosi will also be collecting foodstuff tins for Carol Shaw Memorial Center, an HIV-Aids day care center based in Zuurbekom.

This follows the appeal of the Naturena-based side to its supporters and members of the soccer fraternity at large, who will be coming to the game. The club management plans to hand over all collected stuff at the centre on Sunday, October 26, 2003.

There has been renewed interest in this derby such that R20 adult tickets were already available at Computicket outlets as early as Monday and supporters are urged to make use of the pre-sale facilities to book their seats on time.

Entertainment will include local kwaito stars Kabelo, Alaska and Senyaka, who will share the ground will their latest releases, courtesy of Sony Music.

Chiefs legends will play curtain raisers at 15h00 against Amakhosi celebrities, who include Glenn Lewis and Kabelo of Metro FM, Bad Boy T of Yfm, M'du Masilela, Tshidiso of Mashamplani, Tsepo Mabona and Monde Twala of eTV, Doctor Khumalo, Ace Khuse and Putco Mafani from Chiefs, Kabelo and many more.

Spectators are urged to come on time, as the bumper entertainment programme will start as early as 14h00.
