The Premier Soccer League finally announced the long awaited fixtures for the upcoming season. The season has been deemed ‘unique’ by many - as by the end of December the Clubs should have played 24 league games – and also the games for the lucrative MTN8 CUP.

The Glamour Boys, now under the tutelage of Vladimir Vermezovic, will be looking at finishing better than the third place they finished on last season.

“It is going to be tough, but we looking at challenging for league honours this season,” said Vladimir Vermezovic currently in a training camp with the rest of the squad. The only players not in the camp are Bafana duo, Siphiwe Tshabalala and goalkeeper, Itumeleng Khune.

Following a usually explosive Vodacom Challenge, the Glamour Boys are expected to participate in the Telkom Charity Cup at a venue to be announced by the Premier Soccer League. The preseason tourney is scheduled for 01 August 2009.

The MTN8 will kick off on the 5th August with rest of the games taking place on the 8th August. The Glamour Boys won this competition with style last season with goalkeeper, Itumeleng Khune emerging a hero in a nail biting final against rivals, Mamelodi Sundowns.

Chiefs’ first league game will be against Engen Santos who did a ‘double’ over the Amakhosi last season. This will take place at Loftus Stadium on the 12th August. Another potential explosive match against Absa Premiership champions, SuperSport United will follow on the 22nd August 2009.

The Glamour Boys will be also be looking at settling scores with rivals Orlando Pirates when the two sides are pitted against each other on the 30th October at a venue to be announced. The second round fixture is scheduled for 20 February at Coca Cola Park.

PSL also announced that two competitions, Telkom KO and Nedbank Cup would take place 10 March and 16 May 2009.

This is to accommodate SAFA in preparation for the world’s biggest sporting event, 2010 World Cup to kick off for the first time in African soil on 11 June 2010.
