Finger problems return for Fernandez

Posted in News on Jan 26, 2008.

After earlier reporting that former Kaizer Chiefs and current Bafana Bafana keeper Rowen Fernandez could well find himself back in the starting line up for South Africa’s next game against Tunisia on Sunday at the 2008 Africa Cup of nations, kaizerchiefs.com learnt on Saturday morning that the keeper was once again having problems.

With the finger he fractured around two weeks ago prior to Bafana Bafana playing in a warm up match against Botswana, he was not able to fully train on Saturday and spent most of the training session watching his team mates go through their paces on the side lines.

As his involvement in the session was very limited, there was no immediate response from the Bafana camp regarding Fernandez situation, although the player did tell kaizerchiefs.com that his finger was sensitive a bit sensitive and he was not sure whether he would have any involvement in the game on Sunday.
