The 16-year-old was left speechless at the final whistle as he realised the extent of his achievement.

He began the day having never played EA SPORTS™ FIFA 06 on Xbox® and returned home with an Xbox 360 and two tickets to the final of the 2006 FIFA World Cup™ in Germany!

Commenting on his victory, David said: "This is amazing! I've had a great day and played against some great opponents and now I'm off to London to the Grand Final!"

His Manchester United team took on the Juventus team of Itumeleng Modise in a game that despite its pace and action produced no goals over the first 90 minutes. Both goalkeepers produced some athletic saves to keep both teams in the game and even a devastating run from Rooney that left three defenders trailing wasn't enough to put David in the lead.

In extra time it was Manchester United who made all the runs but couldn't convert. As extra-time finished, the crowd's excitement reached a crescendo as penalties loomed. After five attempts each it was Manchester United who left the field as victors.

The day started with a press conference with representatives from national television, newspapers and magazines, who were left in no doubt as to the importance of the event to FIFA, EA and Xbox. As if to underline what had been said to the media, by the close of the conference the crowds had grown considerably and by the time the doors opened several hundred gamers eager to win the coveted title streamed through the doors.

The crowd didn't have long to wait until the action kicked off and the first wave of players hit the tournament pods guided by the MC. It was clear that the South African contingent were out to impress and send a message to the rest of the finalists with an extremely high standard of play that showed flair, originality and passion from the off.

Away from the pods, three players from one of South Africa's top teams, the Kaiser Chiefs dropped in to lend their support to a FIFA 06 game between the Kaiser Chiefs and the Orlando Pirates. John "Shoes" Mosheo, Bevan Fransman and Siphwiwe Mchunu took to the stage to coach the players in a highly entertaining game that was enthusiastically supported by the excited crowd. Sadly, for the Kaiser Chiefs' supporters it was the Orlando Pirates who took home the spoils. Nevertheless the Kaiser Chiefs players remained on stage and signed and gave away over 500 unique mini footballs.

The crowd were given a brief respite with several 'Challenge the Champion' matches. The winner of the 2004 South Africa tournament, Shimane Morekure took on several eager members from the floor before he linked up with old foe, Matija Biljeskovic from the USA via Xbox Live™. Matija and Shimane had met previously in the Grand Final in 2004; Matija once again was victorious as his Manchester United team beat Shimani's Chelsea in a 4-0 masterclass for aspiring gamers.

Those seeking the excitement of real football only had to walk a matter of yards to see a legends match between former players from the one of the Academy's pitches. Spectators were treated to some great football played by, amongst others, Jabu Pule (ex Kaiser Chiefs and Bafana Bafana), Grant Johnston (ex Manning Rangers and Supersport Utd) and Wendel Robinson (ex Maroka Swallows Sundowns). At the final whistle many spectators returned to the pods to see the final stages.

The two semi finals provided some great action with the crowd giving a massive amount of support to all four contenders and it was David and Itumeleng who took to the stage for the final match of the tournament.

Itumeleng was magnanimous in defeat: "Some you win, some you lose - it was cool to get this far and David was a fantastic opponent."

The FIWC team will welcome David in London for the Grand Final on December 18th where he'll join the other seven winners from the regional tournaments and two winners from Xbox Live.
