Kaizer Chiefs coach Ted Dumitru has dismissed rumours that defender Fabian McCarthy could soon leave the club and indicated the player had not featured in the squad for technical reasons.
The Amakhosi coach says team doctor Phil Maepa had recommended a strict physical training programme for McCarthy to help him with his weight problem. “Fabian is definitely an important part of the squad,” said Dumitru.
"He is currently undergoing a stringent training programme and we have to support and monitor him throughout. We will use him from time to time so that we do not interfere with his programme," added Dumitru.
