Fabian joins Nike to tackle greatest opponent

Nike the technical sponsors of Kaizer Chiefs have joined up with the Amakhosi and various NGO's and have thrown their weight behind an innovative new Aids Awareness programme.



Nike have embarked on an aids awareness campaign aimed at the younger members of society, to promote a healthy lifestyle which will help add longevity and increase mortality rate amongst the youth.



Various sports personalities will be used to promote the campaign amongst them is Kaizer Chiefs defender Fabian McCarthy who will be part of this campaign titled “Greatest Opponent”.



With the HIV/Aids pandemic ravaging through South Africa it has become many families greatest opponent as they help affected members cope with the disease, the disease has also been described as an opponent that you know of but cannot see.



The campaign will be titled “Greatest Opponent” Nike will use the following catch phrase as it’s slogan “life is not a game wear a condom”, Nike have also teamed up with Durex the world renown condom manufacturer.



In conjunction with Durex they will be dispensing condoms at Nike concept stores for free, as well as matches that feature The Amakhosi.



Other South African Sports Personalities such as Rugby Player Butch James, Boxer Lehlohonolo Ledwaba and athlete Charne Rademeyer will join Fabian as Nike’s aids awareness ambassadors in South Africa.



The entire Chiefs team will also form part of Nikes overall Aids Awareness campaign by donning red bootlaces and have the Aids Awareness ribbon emblazoned on their jerseys.



The television advertisements around the campaign begin at the start of December and will run until the end of the year.



This campaign will also be focused on grass roots Aids awareness and Nike will continue working with various NGO’s to heighten the awareness and education around this disease.



All Nike concept stores through the busy Christmas shopping period will also be promoting Aids awareness through the use of a distinct store window and a unique shopping bag which will have the Aids Awareness campaigns slogan written across it.
