Kaizer Chiefs defender Ditheko Mototo is expecting fireworks when The Amakhosi play host to their long time foes Orlando Pirates at the FNB Stadium on Saturday, in what is to be the final Soweto derby to be held at the famous Stadium as it shuts down to undergo a much needed face lift ahead of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

With both teams seemingly back in the hunt for the championships after victories in midweek, the stage has been set for FNB to see out it first seventeen years in explosive fashion.

The Chiefs defender is ready for a fight from Orlando Pirates given Chiefs recent domination of their Soweto neighbours, “we do not expect anything less than an all out battle every time we play against Pirates” said the Chiefs strongman.

Mototo who was sent off when Chiefs defeated Pirates via a penalty shoot out in the ABSA Cup Final, played in May is ready to fight hard for victory on Saturday. “The fact that they last defeated us in an official game almost two years ago means that Pirates, will be throwing every thing they have at trying to win the game” quipped Mototo.

He continued further by adding “From the way we have prepared for the game we ready for anything that they will come at us with, the fact that both teams are determined to win the game will make for an excellent spectacle”. With three most valuable points at stake, as well as the crown for kings of Soweto up for grabs Mototo believes the correct ingredients have been added to make for a good free flowing game.

As he continues further “we want to win because of the fact that a win over Pirates, will put us within touching distance of the league leaders, Pirates obviously want to win because they will not be happy with us beating them again. We want to defend our proud recent record and finish off at FNB with a win, all of these factors will add to a real attacking game which I am sure the supporters will thoroughly enjoy”.

Mototo, who recently became a father although wary of the threat posed by Pirates, is happy with Chiefs team’s preparation for the game and believes that the positive spirit in the team bodes well for The Amakhosi’s chances on Saturday. “To win in a game like the Soweto derby you have to believe that victory can be achieved, with the way we have been playing recently and the results we have conjured up.

We do feel that although a tough ask victory is achievable against Pirates, we are fortunate enough that, in our squad at the present time there exists a high dosage of self confidence, as well as a real sense of togetherness amongst the group which all adds up to us being fired up and determined to win on Saturday.

We ready to die for each other on the pitch and ensure that we win not just for us but for our supporters as well, and more than any other game you want to win against Pirates” concluded Mototo.

As Chiefs prepare for another bout with Pirates Ditheko Mototo is adamant that he will use any legal means possible to stop Pirates from getting any sight of goal, as he is out to prove that he has the resolve to deal with the best strikers in the country.

Saturday’s Derby is presents another opportunity for the former Bloemfontein Young Tigers player, to show he has the claws to help Chiefs fight their way to victory on Saturday.
