In the absence of Ernst, Frank Eulberg was tasked with the responsibility of taking Amakhosi through their paces on Saturday morning. Once again Chiefs were greeted by overcast skies although the sun did make a brief appearance on Saturday morning.
Saturday’s training session was probably the most arduous the team has been through since arriving in the Western Cape on Thursday. It was also the longest continuous session, which lasted more than two hours.
It began with the players doing a light warm up session and it intensified after which the players then played a game which was divided into three halves of twenty minutes.
After the long energy draining session Frank Eulberg said “from this session I can deduce that the players are all very hungry to play against Man United, every one has given more than 100 percent I am happy to see the commitment shown by the guys”.
From a football point of view the Chiefs assistant coach was happy with the technique shown by the team as well as their implementation of tactics “on Saturday morning we needed to work on a lot of tactical work and it is now that I can see that all our pre season work is coming together. We have been working arduously over the past couple of weeks and things are coming right I am sure our hard labour will bear fruit, in the short term with a good result against Man United and in the long run with a successful PSL campaign”.
Amakhosi players were given the rest of the day off on Saturday and after a much deserved lunch, the team was scheduled to watch the opening game of the Vodacom Challenge on a giant screen in a conference room at their hotel. Sunday’s programme will be much the same with an early morning training session followed by a round of golf for the keen golfers in the squad while some of the other players will take in the sites of Cape Town.
