Ertugral: We lost to a better team on the day

A visibly disappointed Kaizer Chiefs coach Muhsin Ertugral admitted after the game on Saturday that "Chiefs lost to a better team on the day". This was following a 2-1 defeat in a must-win game for the Amakhosi to keep their title hopes alive.

"They were more aggressive, had bigger match temperament...credit to Orlando Pirates they were overall a better team on the day," said Ertugral after the pulsating match.

"They dominated us in the first half and they should have scored but Itu (Khune) was at his best. In the second half, we started playing our normal game especially after introducing Jose Torrealba.

"We then conceded a goal following a corner kick; we should have covered our poles better in that situation. The second goal was as a result of a mistake from one of our defenders.

"Domza (Dominic Isaacs) had done very well for us in the games leading to the derby and he is not suddenly a bad player because of the mistake he did," lamented Ertugral.

Chiefs will take on Santos on Wednesday at Loftus Stadium. “We just have to soldier on and forget about the Championship. Pirates are now favourites to catch SuperSport United in case they slip up. We will be back at work on Monday in preparation for the last two games of the season against Santos on Wednesday and the last game on Saturday," he said.

On his future Ertugral said he expects to meet the Management ‘in the next couple of days’.

Kick-off for Kaizer Chiefs vs. Santos game is at 19h30.
